Counselling grounded in lived experience, culture, and connection with Parminder Thind

Sometimes anxiety, self-doubt, or past experiences can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and our ways of knowing.

I offer trauma-informed counselling that honours your lived experience, culture, relationships, and strengths. Together, we can make space for your story, reconnect with what you know within yourself, and explore ways forward that respect your values, choices, and agency.

About Parminder

Parminder Thind, RTC

(she/her) BIPOC and 2LGBTQIA ally Relationship Issues/Anxiety/Anger/Self-Esteem/Intergenerational and Racial Trauma

Parminder Thind (She/Her), Registered Counsellor, has sat on the Board Executive Committee as Director and Secretary for ACCT (the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists). She was also the past Secretary and Chair of the ACCT Equity Committee, where she is making a difference in the ways in which people of colour are viewed.

My practice is in family systems, intergenerational/racial trauma, personal relationships, addictions, and heightened emotions (e.g. anxiety, anger, depression, etc.).

I believe we all want to be heard and not feel self-conscious. My approach to therapy is listening with an open heart and using a non-judgmental approach. I began my counselling journey over 30 years ago, and I did not know that I had a choice of finding someone I could connect with.

I believe the client-therapist relationship should be honoured, comfortable, trauma-informed, and gentle. We will work together at your pace and direction, speak about your difficult experiences and come up with the right resources and tools so that you are in charge of your healing.

In my downtime, I enjoy cooking, yoga, Reiki healing, meditation (simran and kirtan), exercising, upgrading my knowledge, and the company of family and friends. Recently, I have started learning more about my faith through a decolonized perspective. I speak both English and Punjabi. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in my services. Your introductory session is free. Let’s see if we are a fit.

A RELATIONAL SPACE

Are you looking for someone to lean on and share without judgement?

Are you ready for a change?

I am here to help you. My name is Parminder Thind, and I am a Registered Counsellor. I provide counselling for young adults to older adults who are looking for support with stress, self esteem, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders and body dysmorphia.

You may have been handling things on your own or with the support of friends and family. At a certain point you wonder if therapy would help. Many have a tendency to put off counselling for fear that it won’t work for them, or because it can be awkward to take that first step.

We will approach therapy together with openness and non-judgment. We should feel safe when we are sharing vulnerably and I create a relational space. My intention is to listen to you about your difficult experiences. I have seen firsthand that even the most painful, stuck patterns and emotions can be transformed to make way for a more joyful and fulfilling life. I am English speaking and Punjabi is my second language.
